South Korean President wooed President Trump on Wednesday, gifting him a replica of an historic golden crown and a coveted medal, while the nations searched for an agreement on trade in the latest stop on Trump’s Asia swing this week.
Trump attended the Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Gyeongju, South Korea. He said Seoul and Washington had “pretty much” reached a trade deal, but a sticking point has been Trump’s demand for $350 billion in direct investment in the U.S.
Back in Washington, the Senate reconvenes Wednesday morning, but has no vote scheduled on the continuing resolution (CR) to end the government shutdown. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) are slated to hold their regular dueling pressers as the government shutdown persists.
