Lexus entered the premium luxury segment in 1989 with the LS model, changing the dynamic with its sedan that competed wholeheartedly with BMW and Mercedes (while offering a better price). The problem Lexus faces is that the LS – the brand’s flagship model – is an executive sedan, and sedans are fading in popularity, with crossovers and SUVs being all the rage. The solution? Turn the LS name into something more than just one model, show off two concepts bearing the LS name – neither of which are sedans – and add an extra set of wheels to the one.
