With IFA underway, Lenovo is bringing a suite of new PC and PC-related products to the show, and the most exciting might be the company’s latest concept hardware, the ThinkBook VertiFlex Concept. Do you remember the LG phone that had a rotating display? Well, take that idea and put it in a laptop, and that’s essentially what you have here with the ThinkBook VertiFlex Concept. While it’s likely this idea has floated into someone’s brain before, Lenovo seems to be the first company, to our knowledge, that has implemented it in a laptop.
Since it’s just a concept, it’s not something that consumers should expect to buy anytime soon. That’s if Lenovo ever produces it for the market. However, if it did end up as a purchasable product, there could be all sorts of use cases for it, and being part of the ThinkBook line, it’s clear that Lenovo envisioned this for the workforce.
The laptop’s rotatable display is 14 inches in size, and it’s quite slim at 17.9mm. It also only weighs about 3 lbs, which would make it a pretty good option for professionals who might drag this thing around all day.
The ThinkBook VertiFlex laptop isn’t the only concept that Lenovo unveiled
The ThinkBook VertiFlex Concept is easily the most exciting concept Lenovo had to show off this week, but it’s not the only concept. Lenovo also showed off a concept laptop stand. Dubbed the Lenovo Smart Motion Concept, this laptop stand is multi-directional, so it can adapt to the needs of the user.
Lenovo says it integrates with laptop cameras, microphones, and speakers to “deliver auto-
facial tracking, voice control, and ergonomic health features.” Now, this is just a laptop stand, so for some, it might be hard to get excited about something whose main job is just to prop up your laptop. That being said, this is another product that could fit right in with the professional crowd.
Lenovo has several new workstation laptops on the way, including one that can double as a gaming laptop
Lenovo makes some great gaming laptops, but it also makes a ton of options that are geared more towards professionals. The company is announcing such a laptop at IFA this week, but it’s not just for those in the workforce. It’s called the ThinkPad P16 Gen 3, and it’s packing top-of-the-line hardware. For starters, there’s an Intel Core Ultra 200HX processor and an NVIDIA RTX Pro 5000 Blackwell GPU. This is a GPU that’s probably more at home doing 3D rendering. However, Lenovo confirms it’s just as capable of gaming should you want to do a little of that once your workday is over.
In addition to the ThinkPad P16 Gen 3, Lenovo has announced the ThinkPad P1 Gen 8. This model isn’t quite as powerful as the previous model, but it’s more portable and is there to be the compromise between power and something less weighty. The ThinkPad P1 Gen 8 is powered by an RTX Pro 2000 Blackwell GPU instead of the 5000 model. However, it’s slimmer and more lightweight, and Lenovo promises it can still pump out some serious performance.
Lenovo is launching a few more workstation laptops, including the ThinkPad P16v Gen 3, as well as the P14s and P16s. The most interesting of the bunch, though, has to be the ThinkPad X9 Aura Edition. This laptop is coming in a new Glacier White color, which looks pretty darn good compared to the stereotypical black that Lenovo normally uses on these laptops. The laptop itself isn’t new, however, as it was first announced during CES 2025 back in January.
A new monitor to help your productivity
In addition to the concepts and workstation laptops, Lenovo is also announcing the ThinkVision P40WD-40 monitor for work professionals. This features a productivity hub for a more seamless workflow. If you already have a work monitor, not to worry. You can still get the benefits of that productivity hub with Lenovo’s new dock. It’s called the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 5 Smart Dock 7500 (what a mouthful). It has a plethora of ports for your daily needs. If this dock is more than you need, Lenovo is also announcing two other models that won’t cost as much. The tradeoff is a few ports and features.
Pricing and availability
The good news is that all of these, save for the concepts, are launching later this year. The bad news is that some of those products have more vague launch windows. For example, the three docks launch in 2025. However, Lenovo only confirms sometime in Q3. As for pricing, none of these are really cheap. The most expensive of the bunch is the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 5 Smart Dock 7500 at $549.99. Moving down from there, the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 4 Dock Gen 7500 is $379.99. Lastly, the ThinkPad USB4 Smart Dock will be $269.99
When it comes to laptops, Lenovo’s ThinkPad P16 Gen 3 starts at $3,339. This means it can go up from there, and we’d expect nothing less from a laptop that was built to handle intense 3D rendering tasks and gaming. The other laptops range in price from $2,819 to $1,819. Meanwhile, the P40WD-40 monitor will retail for $2,182.
