The world of foldable phones is always buzzing with speculation, and Samsung’s upcoming lineup is no exception. The name for the main clamshell foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, has largely been clear. However, there’s been a bit of a mystery surrounding its more affordable sibling. Now, leaked cases from an accessory manufacturer seem to confirm the device’s final name: Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.
If you’re not aware, tech enthusiasts have been speculating for a while whether Samsung’s next budget-friendly clamshell would simply be called the ‘Galaxy Z Flip FE’ or adopt a more sequential ‘Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE’ moniker. Recent reports had already pointed towards the latter, and the latest leak seems to put those doubts to rest.
‘Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE’ moniker confirmed in leaked case listings
The latest confirmation comes from an unexpected but often reliable source: case manufacturers. Spigen, a well-known name in phone accessories, briefly listed case collections for both devices. Android Central spotted listings for both the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and, crucially, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. While the listings were quickly pulled, the internet, as always, caught screenshots. They provide strong evidence of the official branding.

This leak is particularly significant because it suggests Samsung is redefining its foldable brand image to better align with its traditional smartphone lineup. The company already has FE models in the Galaxy S lineup, such as the latest Galaxy S24 FE. However, this doesn’t appear to be a hard-and-fast naming rule for Samsung. Last year, the company launched an upgraded version of its foldable phone called the Galaxy Z Fold SE (rather than the Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE).
By including the “7” in the affordable foldable’s name, Samsung appears to be clearly positioning it within the same generation as its premium counterpart. This could make it easier for consumers to understand its place in the lineup.
For fans eager for a more accessible foldable, the confirmation of a “Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE” is good news. It implies that Samsung wants to bring its foldable technology to a broader audience. Plus, leaks suggest that the company will not fill the device with compromises that make the experience a lot worse.
Samsung has confirmed that it will hold its next Unpacked event on July 9. The firm will announce the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Z Flip 7 FE, and the Z Fold 7. Among other announcements, the Galaxy Watch 8 series will also make its debut.
