Former Sen. John E. Sununu (R-N.H.) officially entered the state’s 2026 Senate race Wednesday.
Sununu, 61, previously represented the Granite State from 2003-2009. He has not held elected office since Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen spoiled his bid for a second term.
Shaheen, 78, is not running for reelection.
“Somebody has to step up and lower the temperature,” Sununu said in a video on the social platform X. “Somebody has to get things done.”
The New Hampshire Republican joins former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown, who joined the race in June, in the Republican primary.
