There was a time once when classic muscle ruled the streets. Huge V8 engines making high horsepower numbers were commonplace — but they were almost all coupes and convertibles. As time went on, sports sedans gained popularity, and the definition of what made a muscle car a muscle car morphed to include some sedans. By the mid 2000s, some luxury automakers were producing SUVs with hundreds of horsepower, like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, for example, and these could keep up with smaller sports cars with ease.
