The Cherokee was last on sale in 2023
At the end of May, Jeep gave us a first glimpse of the all-new Cherokee, which is set to make its arrival late in 2025. The most recent Cherokee, the KL generation, went out of production in 2023, leaving Jeep crossover fans with only the aging Compass.
We’ve already seen the new Cherokee’s face, but a new video reveals the much more squared-off rear of the upcoming crossover. The tougher styling hints at an even more capable crossover that should give the Ford Bronco Sport a good run for its money.
More Assertive Styling
The blocky structure of the taillight clusters and the lighting signature has a pleasing retro effect. The tailgate is flatter than on the previous model, and there’s an interesting cut-out at the bottom of the license plate section. In the new image, the Cherokee is pictured with a mountain bike and kayak on its roof – in typical Jeep style, we’re sure there will be no shortage of rugged accessories.
In a video seemingly inspired by Transformers, the Cherokee morphs from one generation to the next. A new profile shot shows that it bears some similarities to its predecessor, such as the square wheel arches. However, the roofline and D-pillar are more upright, possibly hinting at a greater focus on maximizing cabin space. The version seen here is finished in a vibrant blue shade with a black roof.
The front fascia, as we saw previously, features a more upright design, modernized headlights, and the traditional seven-slot grille.
No interior shots were shown in the new video, but we can look forward to the usual enhanced infotainment setup and better materials.

Optional Hybrid Powertrain Will Be Available
2026 Jeep Cherokee Jeep
No technical details were provided, but it’s possible that a version of the 2.0L turbo four-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain in the Wrangler 4xe could be used, which makes 270 hp. However, Jeep may prefer a conventional hybrid for the Cherokee to help keep the price down.
As for the non-hybrid model, the 200-hp turbo-four from the Compass would be an improvement over the older 180-hp mill used in the Cherokee.
We expect Jeep’s teaser campaign to continue as we get closer to a full reveal of the 2026 Cherokee.
