According to the rumors, Apple will hide Face ID under the display of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models. That means that users can expect Apple to finally adopt the hole-punch camera cutout that Android handset makers have been using for years. But what about Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro? Turns out, it will be reduced.
Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro will be smaller
In an image shared by tipster yeux1122 on Naver, it shows that Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro will be shrunken down. The image claims that it will be about 35% smaller compared to the iPhone 17 Pro. When Apple first debuted Dynamic Island, it was pretty long/wide. However, the company later managed to shrink its size, and now with the iPhone 18 Pro, it’s about to get even smaller.

If you’re thinking that this is part of Apple’s strategy to eventually phase it out, it isn’t. This is because Apple views Dynamic Island as something of a signature feature of its iPhones. Without it, it won’t stand out compared to its Android competitors. Apple choosing to shrink it means giving more screen real estate back to users.
However, the placement of Dynamic Island is up for debate. In a recent concept video shared by Jon Prosser, he suggested that the front-facing camera could be moved to the corner of the phone’s display. This means that instead of Dynamic Island sitting in the middle, it will be moved to the side. Yeux1122’s image suggests it could sit in the center. We’re not sure which will end up being correct, but both agree that it will be smaller.
Apple’s new launch strategy
Apple’s launch strategy for 2026 is going to be interesting. Typically, the company launches its entire range at once. However, for 2026, Apple might skip the release of the base/cheaper models. Instead, Apple will focus only on the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the foldable iPhone.
The Cupertino company isn’t ditching the cheap models yet. Instead, Apple might push the releases to the early part of 2027. This suggests that the company wants to spread its releases instead of doing it all at once. We’ve seen that strategy in action by Chinese OEMs, so maybe Apple is taking a page out of that playbook.
