One thing we’ve noticed about the color options for Apple’s iPhones is that the company usually gives its Pro models a more subdued, somber, and professional look. However, Apple gives the lower-end base models brighter and more fun looks. That isn’t changing for the iPhone 17 models where Apple is rumored to introduce two new colors.
Two new colors for iPhone 17
According to a report from Majin Bu, Apple will introduce two new color options for the base iPhone 17 models: green and purple, or lavender, if we’re being specific. This is actually not the first time we’ve heard about the new lavender option.
An earlier report suggested that lavender will be one of the new colors Apple plans to offer. However, last we heard, purple is only available for the base iPhone 17. This means it might not be offered for the iPhone 17 Air, the model rumored to replace the Plus series.
We’re unsure if this means that green will be an option for the iPhone 17 Air, so we’ll have to wait and see. Assuming these renders are accurate, we are kind of digging the pastel vibes the colors are giving off. They’re soft and don’t stand out too much, but still offer some kind of personality. Hopefully, the real-life versions will look just as nice.
What to expect in terms of specs
So far, we know that the base iPhone 17 model will look very similar to its predecessor, the iPhone 16. The Pro models will have a slightly updated look with a new camera module design, at least based on the leaked renders we’ve seen so far. However, the base iPhone 17 will look the same, except with new color options.
According to Majin Bu, Apple will equip the phone with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will use an aluminum body, and a dual camera setup. However, the post claims that Apple might not give the base iPhone 17 model a huge upgrade in terms of the chipset. The report suggests we’re looking at the use of the A18 Pro, the same chipset found in the iPhone 16 series.
This means that Apple’s newer and more powerful A19 chip could be reserved for the more expensive iPhone 17 Pro models. Either way, take it with a grain of salt. The Cupertino company will most likely announce the new iPhone 17 models later this year around September.
