The poor reception of the iPhone 16e isn’t stopping Apple from releasing a successor, the iPhone 17e. Apple is standing firm on the 60Hz display, even on the upcoming model. Besides that, we’ll be seeing an A19 chip and a C1 modem. While we’ve been hearing about the hardware side of things, the exact launch seems to be under wraps. Well, that is changing today, as a new leak reveals the iPhone 17e’s possible launch date.
iPhone 17e’s launch date may have been revealed in a new leak
Macworld reports that the iPhone 17e may launch as early as February 19th. The information comes from rumors circulating among Apple’s case and accessory manufacturing circles. This is exactly when the iPhone 16e was launched last year. That said, Apple usually announces new products on Monday or Tuesday, and occasionally on Wednesday. So, February 19th, a Thursday, seems out of place.
Apple usually doesn’t share information about upcoming launches with case and accessory makers. However, companies often try to squeeze inside information to time their own announcements alongside Apple’s. For this reason, we urge you to take this rumor with a grain of salt for now.
Apple may announce the new iPhone 17e via a press release, much like how it did with the iPhone 16e. This means it can theoretically arrive at any time. For what it’s worth, the iPhone 17e reportedly entered mass production earlier this year, shortly after CES 2026.
Apple A19 chip and MagSafe
As for the hardware, the iPhone 17e will reportedly arrive with MagSafe wireless charging with up to 25W. This will be a notable upgrade over the iPhone 16e, which just supports the 7.5W Qi wireless standard. It’s likely to feature just a single camera on the back, which could be a 48MP unit. The iPhone 17e may sport a 6.1-inch OLED LTPS display with slim bezels, but with a 60Hz refresh rate.
There have been contradicting reports regarding the front design. While some rumors point to a Dynamic Island, others say it’ll still be the notch. Reportedly, the Dynamic Island on the e-series lineup is likely at least a generation or two away. The iPhone 17e may arrive with the A19 chip, which only offers minor improvements over the A18 chip in the iPhone 16e.
The iPhone 17e may feature the C1-series modem, a Face ID sensor, and a 12MP lens on the front for selfies. Lastly, the upcoming iPhone may cost the same as the iPhone 16e, i.e., $599 for the base model.Â
