iOS 26 hasn’t been all that smooth, as it was riddled with bugs from the beginning. Adding to the woes, the iOS 26.2.1 that was released last week is reportedly causing more problems for a small minority of users. The update introduced new bugs instead of fixing the old ones. Users are reporting issues like crashing, freezing, connectivity failure, and even severe battery drain.
Users report problems after installing the iOS 26.2.1 update
As spotted by Macworld, there’s a thread on the Apple Community forum called “iOS 26.2.1 has rendered my phone unusable.” The thread notes that nearly every app on the user’s phone has started crashing or freezing after installing the update. They report that deleting the apps and files doesn’t solve anything. While the user notes that a temporary workaround for this is rebooting the phone, the problems would return within “10 minutes.”
Another user complained, “Connectivity failure after iOS 26.2.1 update” on Apple Community. The user adds that their iPhone can no longer connect to the phone provider’s network. In fact, a thread on Reddit discussing MacObserver’s original news story has a lot of comments from users reporting the same issues, including severe battery drain.
Connectivity failure and apps crashing
Another Reddit thread, “iOS 26.2.1 feels like a user experiment,” talks about issues after the update. The user notes that the loading times are longer, and the camera app in particular is a downgrade instead of an upgrade. “The whole thing feels more like a user experiment than a stable operating system. It’s a real shame in my opinion, I regret updating to the new version,” notes the Reddit user.
Having said this, the issues don’t seem to be widespread, considering only a small minority of users have reported facing problems after the update. Nonetheless, it’s still a concern. Apple hasn’t responded to the matter yet. A smart move at this juncture is to avoid installing the iOS 26.2.1 update. That is, if you haven’t already.
