Popular for its action cameras in the world of tech, Insta360 launched a new wireless mic, called the Mic Air. At just 7.9 grams, the Insta360’s Mic Air is the smallest and lightest wireless microphone. The size of this is comparable to Apple’s AirTag or a coin. The microphone offers a stable wireless range of up to 300 meters. One can wear it like a magnetic attachment, a clip-on, or a pendant while recording.
Insta360 Mic Air will offer up to 10 hours of battery life
The Insta360 Mic Air captures true-to-life sound with 48KHz/24-bit sampling and omnidirectional audio pickup. It gets support for advanced noise cancellation and a Windshield to keep the audio clean when recording in busy or windy environments.
Despite its compact nature, the Insta360 Mic Air offers up to 10 hours of battery life. This allows for longer recording times. It can wirelessly connect directly to the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 action camera and Insta360 X5 8K 360-degree camera over Bluetooth. However, the company promises compatibility with other models in the coming months.
Notably, the Bluetooth connectivity means the battery life of the Mic Air will be reduced to 7.5 hours, and the wireless range will drop to between 30 and 50 meters. On the other hand, when connected with the optional wireless receiver and with noise-cancellation turned off, the Mic Air offers up to 300 meters of wireless range in an unobstructed and interference-free environment.
The Mic Air features button controls to activate noise cancelling, start/stop video recording, and even mute the audio recording. The optional USB-C receiver offers just volume controls.

An optional USB-C wireless receiver is required to use Insta360 Mic Air with smartphones when creating vlogs or shooting video content in general. Additionally, older iPhones with a Lightning port will need an adapter dongle to connect the receiver.
Pricing and availability
The Insta360 Mic Air is available via the company’s website and Amazon for $49.99 for the microphone alone, compared to DJI $89 for the DJI Mic Mini. The bundle with a USB-C receiver to connect the microphone to smartphones and Insta360’s gimbals costs $69.99.
