If your dream speaker looks like it time-traveled from your grandma’s kitchen but plays your Spotify playlist without a hitch, the NATTBAD designed by Jon Eliason is your moment. IKEA’s latest Bluetooth speaker is retro in looks but delivers on sound too, all at a budget-friendly price. This launch marks a new initiative from IKEA to treat speakers the way we do our most beloved objects in the home – worthy of display, not disguise.
Available in cheery yellow, soft pink, or classic black, NATTBAD brings instant charm to your sound system, like a vintage radio you just uncovered in the attic, minus the staticky glitches. “When I designed NATTBAD Bluetooth speaker, I wanted to combine the look of old radios with the functions of a modern speaker – and make it a social hub in the home,” shares Eliason. “Just as families once gathered around their radio, I hope today’s families can connect more by listening to music, podcasts or audiobooks together. The idea is for the speaker to be a blend of stylish interior detail and modern technology that’s easy to use.”

An LED status light alerts when the speaker is in pairing mode, ready to be used, or conducting a factory reset. A sound knob adjusts the volume and changes the track while a dedicated Spotify Tap button starts, plays, and resumes your Spotify music when you last played it.
NATTBAD is a refreshingly low-stress, plug and play kind of speaker, with Bluetooth pairing, multi-speaker set up, and even Spotify Tap built in. All you need is a phone, computer, or other Bluetooth device to wirelessly pair to the NATTBAD. It’s so easy to use, you can gift one to your grandparents without expecting a service call.
In fact, the NATTBAD speaker is just one of many smart home objects that IKEA is rolling out this year, all designed to work with Matter, the universal smart home standard developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), alongside Apple, Amazon, Bosch, Google, Samsung, and more. Unlike the clunky, complicated tech setups we’ve all wrestled with, IKEA’s smart home approach promises simplicity, compatibility, and affordability. “Until now, smart home technology hasn’t been easy enough to use for most people – or affordable enough for many to consider,” says David Granath, Range Manager at IKEA of Sweden. “Bringing Matter to our products means we are taking a big step in the right direction, offering compatibility across brands, and lowering the threshold for people to get started. Our goal is to make the smart home easy to use, easy to understand, and within reach for the many.”
So go ahead and queue up your favorite playlist, put on an impromptu dance party, or set the mood for a slow Sunday morning. With NATTBAD, music becomes as central to the home as the people listening to it.
