Sewon Precision Industry Co. is adding 98,250 square feet to its plant in Rincon, just outside Savannah. The $50 million project will create 100 new jobs. The company was expected to create 740 new jobs and invest over $300 million into creating the Rincon facility.
Sewon America operates one of the largest automobile body parts manufacturing plants in North America. The company opened its first Georgia facility in LaGrange in 2008, which has since doubled in size, and began operations in Rincon in 2025. With the expansion, Sewon will continue to supply electric vehicle (EV) body parts for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), including Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America.
Hyundai plans to eventually produce about 500,000 electric and hybrid vehicles annually at the Metaplant in Ellabell, about 20 miles away from the Rincon plant.
