In one such instance, it may be planning to bring back a unique camera setup on its next Pura-series flagship. A new leak on Weibo seemingly hints that Huawei may revive the retractable camera setup with the upcoming Pura 90 Ultra. Besides this, the leak also spills some details regarding the build, display, and other imaging upgrades.
Huawei Pura 90 Ultra could bring back the retractable camera setup
Tipster SmartPikachu on Weibo says that the Huawei Pura 90 Ultra is in testing with a 1-inch periscope zoom camera with a 200MP sensor. The interesting part of the leak is that he adds that the company is also looking to add new teleconverters and multispectral lenses to the phone. This led to speculations about two possibilities.Â
First, the company may be testing a specialized photography kit for the Pura 90 Ultra. This seems to be a trend these days among the Chinese brands like Vivo and OPPO. The second one is that Huawei could include a retractable camera lens for the Pura 90 Ultra, much like the Pura 70 Ultra back in 2024.
Cameras and a durable build
To recall, the company omitted the retractable lens concept for the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra last year. So, if the leak pans out, it will be a reviving of sorts. Huawei is reportedly testing a 200MP periscope telephoto camera for its upcoming flagships. There are also chances that the company may give this sensor more depth with a retractable lens. That said, these are all just speculations at the moment, and nothing has been confirmed from Huawei’s side. So take this with a pinch of salt
Lastly, the tipster adds that the Huawei Pura 90 Ultra will get a flat display and a metal body for durability. Previous leaks note that the phone may feature a 50MP main camera with a 1-inch sensor and variable aperture. Considering the predecessor launched globally, the Huawei Pura 90 Ultra may also expand to regions outside of China.
