Apple officially announced the Apple Watch Ultra 3 earlier this week, and while it won’t be launching until later this month, you can pre-order the new watch now because pre-orders went live on September 9. The official launch of the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will be on September 19, so you only have to wait until next week to get it if you pre-order.
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is full of improvements, but Apple hasn’t deviated from the design of the past two Ultra models. That’s good news for anyone who loves the way it looks and didn’t want any changes. That being said, Apple did update a few things, even if the design is more or less unchanged. For example, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 now has the largest display of any Apple Watch the company has ever produced. Specifically, it has an active area of 422 x 514 pixels, which is compared to the 410 x 502 on the previous model. It’s not a massive difference, but likely enough of a difference to spot it for those who are a little more eagle-eyed.
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 also bumps up from LTE to 5G for the cellular connectivity speed. Apple also swaps out the old S9 chip for the S10 chip, which means better performance. And another big improvement is the battery life. It’s up to 42 hours from the previous 36 hours. This might be the most important update Apple made aside from the S10 chip, seeing as it directly impacts how long you can use it on a single charge.
Where to pre-order the Apple Watch Ultra 3
The Apple Watch Ultra is already available for pre-order as of September 9. You can pick it up directly from Apple, as you’d expect, but it will also be available through other retailers.
Amazon
Much like Apple’s other new devices announced this week, Amazon will be selling the Apple Watch Ultra 3, but it doesn’t have any sort of special promotions or discount offers going on for the watch. There are no trade-in offers, either. So if you pre-order the watch from Amazon, you’re looking at the retail cost of $799.
Verizon
Verizon has confirmed it will be selling the Apple Watch Ultra 3, and it will have the watch available for pre-order. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 pre-orders on Verizon won’t go live until September 12 at 8AM EDT. That’s 5AM on the West Coast. As for special offers or discounts, Verizon will let customers get up to $400 off a new Apple Watch when they upgrade. To qualify for this, you’ll need to trade in an eligible smartwatch, and you will need to be on the Unlimited Plus for Apple Watch plan. So far, this is probably the best offer.
AT&T
AT&T has yet to confirm if it will be selling the Apple Watch Ultra 3. However, it currently sells the Apple Watch Ultra 2, the Apple Watch Series 10, and the 2nd Gen Apple Watch SE. So there’s a pretty good chance it will be selling the Apple Watch Ultra 3 as well. It’s just a matter of time. Apple has not announced any sort of promotions or discount offers yet, since it hasn’t announced that it will be carrying the watch. This post will be updated if and when this information changes.
T-Mobile
T-Mobile hasn’t confirmed if it will be selling the Apple Watch Ultra 3, but it sells the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and other current watch models. So, there’s a good chance it will end up selling the Apple Watch Ultra 3 as well. If it does, it’s possible pre-orders will go live on September 12 just like they will for Verizon. This post will be updated if and when this information changes.
Apple
You can pre-order the watch directly from Apple and have it shipped so you should receive it on or by launch day. You can pre-order the watch for the $799 upfront, or you can pay for it in installments if you use the Apple Card installment plan. Apple is also offering trade-in discounts. If you trade in an eligible smartwatch, you can get anywhere from $30 to $335 in credit toward a new Apple Watch. Including the Apple Watch Ultra 3.
