In the late 1990s, Bentley was in trouble. At the time, it had just been bought out by Volkswagen from a company called Vickers, which had made a rather unsuccessful attempt at transforming Bentley from a flailing brand to a major success. VW’s procurement of Bentley took place in 1998, inheriting a little-known concept car that was unveiled in 1994. The forgotten concept would go on to become the basis upon which the Bentley Continental GT would be built.
