Howard Hughes Holdings is partnering with the Houston Texans to develop an 83-acre sports and entertainment district in Bridgeland, the company’s 11,500-acre master-planned community in Cypress.
Dubbed the Toro District, the Houston Business Journal reports it will be located within Bridgeland Central, the master-planned community’s 925-acre urban core. Besides the Texans complex, the Toro District is designed to include retail, restaurants, hotels, entertainment, multifamily, and medical space.
The Texans’ headquarters will span 22 acres and include an office building, indoor stadium and outdoor fields. The training facilities also will be available for youth sports and community events.
Gensler will head up the design work on the project.
Harris County Commissioners Court approved a memorandum of understanding for Toro District, which could generate $34 billion in economic impact and create 17,000 jobs over 15 years.
 An estimated groundbreaking date, timeline and renderings will be provided in a few weeks.
