The Houston Texans are moving to the Toro District in Bridgeland, a 83-acre planned community containing nearly 2 million square feet of office, health care, hospitality, retail and entertainment space. Howard Hughes Communities is helming the project.
The plan includes 1 million square feet of office space, 300,000 square feet of retail and restaurants, 250,000 square feet of regional health care and sports medicine, two hotels totaling 300 keys, and 1,300 multifamily units in a walkable district.
The site is located in Bridgeland’s 925-acre urban core, Bridgeland Central, to the west of Grand Parkway off Peek Road north of Bridgeland Creek Parkway.
The plan is for the Texans to build their facilities on 22 acres on the southern side of the district first, with the hope to open in fall 2029. It will include a 175,000-square-foot office building, a 150,000-square-foot indoor stadium accommodating 16,000 people, three outdoor NFL-size football fields, multiple flag football fields and volleyball courts.
The remaining phases of the district could be completed as early 2032. Gensler is the architect.
