Vandals are known to go to extreme lengths when they’ve decided to cause chaos, but one elderly woman in Essex took it to a whole new level. In a series of increasingly bizarre incidents, this woman targeted the vehicles of two senior citizens, causing extensive damage—and that was just the beginning. Months later, she struck again, leaving a very unpleasant surprise for the couple.
The bizarre acts unfolded in the peaceful village of Hockley, Essex, home to Ken and Diane Lott. In April 2024, after returning from a vacation, the 81-year-old couple discovered that their two vehicles, a Skoda Yeti SUV and a Renault Grand Scenic minivan, had been severely vandalized while parked in their driveway.

Their cars had been doused with paint stripper, leaving their exteriors severely damaged. In addition to the paint, black spray paint covered parts of the vehicles, and insulation foam had been forcefully injected into their exhaust pipes. The damage was so bad that both cars had to be written off entirely.
CCTV footage eventually surfaced, showing the culprit, a hooded figure who appeared to be an elderly woman. Despite the footage and as reported by Metro, authorities have yet to identify the suspect, and the couple is left puzzled as to why they were specifically targeted.
A Second Incident: A Disgusting Surprise
Months later, after returning from another holiday, the couple discovered yet another unsettling surprise. Someone had stuffed a “manure-type substance” into their mailbox and glued a key into their front door lock. Fortunately, this time, their vehicle, a Mini Roadster, remained untouched.

A security camera mounted on the front door caught the suspect’s face once again, revealing what appeared to be the same woman who had carried out the initial attack. The couple’s daughter, Essex musician Julie Jive, has even raised concerns that the vandal may be keeping tabs on their travel schedule, potentially monitoring when they are away on holiday.
In an attempt to put an end to this bizarre streak of vandalism, Essex Police have released a photo of the suspect. Describing her as someone “they would like to speak to,” they’re hoping to wrap up this case soon. Maybe, eventually, we’ll get to the bottom of why the hooded granny has it out for these poor retirees.
