HONOR Magic V6 is just a few days away from getting official. The company has also confirmed it’ll feature the mighty Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and has also reportedly teased the foldable in a new Red Velvet color variant. The back panel appears to have a velvet-like finish. Now that we’re on the topic of design, the HONOR Magic V6 is tipped to arrive with slimmer bezels than before, thanks to the new UTG display tech.
HONOR Magic V6 may get slim bezels thanks to UTG display tech
Weibo tipster @WangzaiKnowsEverything says that he received the HONOR Magic V6 a while ago and has been using it for half a month now. He notes that, now that the ban (embargo?) is lifted, he can briefly discuss it. The tipster reveals that HONOR has used a UTG (ultra-thin-glass) display tech for the Magic V6 foldable. For context, UTG is a fusion of durability and flexibility. It is extremely thin in comparison to regular glasses.
As per the tipster, this tech makes the bezels narrower than the previous-gen model, the HONOR Magic V5, which doesn’t have the UTG tech. He further adds that the outer screen gets a symmetrical, straight screen, and this also features slim bezels around the screen. This should give more space for content viewing.
New Red Velvet color
Besides the display tech, the tipster has shared some images of the HONOR Magic V6 foldable. He notes this year’s main color is Red Velvet, which apparently resembles a horsehair-like texture. This is the same color that HONOR had teased. The images show that the back panel has an octagonal camera module with a gold ring around it. This houses quad-camera sensors and an LED flash module. The cover screen gets a centre punch-hole cutout for the selfie shooter. Since the black is not on, we can’t tell how slim the bezels are.
The entire frame of the phone is also in gold color, giving it an elegant look. The volume rocker and power button are present on the right edge of the frame. The type-C port and speaker vents are at the bottom. In addition to the Red Velvet, the HONOR Magic V6 could also arrive in black, white, and gold hues.
Besides the display tech, previous rumors claimed that HONOR is developing a new hinge mechanism for the Magic V6 foldable. This will reportedly reduce or nearly eliminate the visible crease on the folding display. The foldable will launch globally on March 1st.
