Today, HONOR announced the new Magic V Flip 2 in China, ahead of its global launch next week in London. This is the long-awaited second generation of its Flip phone, and for this one, they have partnered with Professor Jimmy Choo for a special edition.
There are quite a few impressive feats with this foldable, actually. For one, they were able to pack in a massive 5,500mAh capacity battery in a chassis that is only 6.9mm thick when unfolded (15.5mm when folded). That’s pretty impressive, since the Magic V5 is only 5,820mAh. Additionally, HONOR was able to cram in a 200-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultrawide and a 50-megapixel front-facing camera.
HONOR is using a 6.82-inch display here, with a 4-inch cover display that is able to run all sorts of apps. Both displays are OLED and 120Hz, and they are also very bright. 3,600nits on the cover display and a whopping 5,000nits on the main display.
The Magic V Flip 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which is technically a year old, about to be two generations behind, but it’s still a very fine chipset. And it is also IP58 and IP59 rated for dust and water resistance. That brings it up to speed with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Designed to be Fashion-Forward
The HONOR Magic V Flip 2 was designed to be fashion-forward, according to the company. This is partly thanks to the company working with international fashion icon Professor Jimmy Choo Yeang Keat OBE. The Magic V Flip 2 Limited Edition was deigned by Jimmy Choo and inspired by the subtle shimmer of crystals. This design is able to ensure that every movement in your hand radiates captivating brilliance. It also has crushed stardust scattered across a deep blue sea, unfolding a sparkling dream with each fold.
The Magic V Flip 2 was announced today, and will be available starting on August 28th. We’re expecting a global announcement next week at the global launch event for Magic V5 in London.
