Sports and entertainment districts adjacent to the sports facility are the norm for most professional sports teams. Now, developers are sensing that even amateur sports facilities could be an economic development driver. The Raleigh Business Journal reports that Holly Springs is considering adding hospitality and entertainment uses around the community’s sports complex.
Ting Park, located between Highway 55 and Main Street north of downtown, includes a 1,800-seat stadium, soccer center, tennis complex, pickleball and basketball courts, two playgrounds, and more. The town is looking to turn undeveloped parts of the town-owned park into a sports and entertainment district complete with a hotel, restaurant and retail space.
Town renderings show a 6-story hotel, parking deck, sports and entertainment facility, pavilion, restaurant, and retail space on a site south of the stadium.
In 2023, Ting Park welcomed 750,000 visitors.
