Elon Musk has been hyping up its new xAI’s Grok Imagine tool. It’s an AI-powered image-to-video generation tool. Musk addresses the tool as “AI Vine.” Interestingly, in one of his recent posts, he has claimed that his team has access to the legendary Vine’s archive. And that the team is actively working to restore it.
Elon Musk calls xAI’s Grok Imagine as “AI Vine”
Grok Imagine is a photo-to-video generation tool that enables users to create NSFW (Not Safe for Work) content. Yes, unlike Google’s Veo and OpenAI’s Sora, there’s no restriction on creating explicit content. It has a “Spicy Mode” that encourages users to get sexualized and 18+ output from the chatbot.
However, unlike Veo and Sora, Grok Imagine is not a completely prompt-to-video-based platform. You would need to have an image before giving the prompt to the xAI’s tool. It would then convert the image into a video. It can add sounds and other visual effects as well. The tool is available to Heavy and Premium+ users on iOS and Heavy users on Android. The tool works very similarly to the legacy “Vine” app.
Vine’s archive might soon be recovered
If you don’t know, Vine was a photo-to-video generation tool launched in 2012. It could create six-second-long loop videos. This quickly made it a very popular tool at that time. However, the application was completely shut down in the year 2016 by limiting all uploads. Elon Musk was eyeing bringing it back when he formally acquired Twitter.
In one of his recent posts, Elon Musk has addressed Grok Imagine as “AI Vine.” In the same post, he later mentioned that “we recently found the Vine video archive (thought it had been deleted) and are working on restoring user access, so you can post them if you want.” Now, if the team has got access to the archive or this is just a publicity stunt to promote Grok Imagin,e remains a mystery.
