Google’s Android XR platform is fast-approaching, and while the glasses have yet to make their official debut as a purchasable product, a new leak of the companion app suggests that the official name could be Google Martha. The leak, which was initially spotted by Search Engine Roundtable, shows off what is believed to be the companion app to the Android XR platform. The app is shown in a photo that contains a pair of Google’s XR glasses, with the name Google Martha listed at the top.
At this point, the name is speculation. As this could be an internal name Google is using for the glasses in their current state. However, this is the first time there has been any mention of a potential name for this product. Google showed off its Android XR glasses at Google I/O back in May. It didn’t have a name for them at the time. But it did let event-goers try them out to see how things work. We were able to test them ourselves, noting how impressive they were compared to already available options. Such as the Meta Ray-Ban glasses or the newly announced glasses from Meta and Oakley.
The Google Martha Android XR app could function similarly to the Pixel Watch app
While there isn’t a whole lot of detail to be picked up from the app leak, it does give off some information. For example, DroidLife has pointed out that it looks similar to the Pixel Watch app. At least in terms of design and functionality.
Inside the app, users will apparently be able to adjust a few things. There’s a section for notifications, for one. The leaked image doesn’t show inside any of the menus. Presumably, however, the notifications section will let you manage alerts, while possibly disabling them altogether.
There’s also a section for “recording your view.” This could be a way to start recording what the glasses see while you wear them. Although there is likely to be a much easier way to initiate this function. Additionally, users will be able to provide feedback from the app. As well as a menu for general settings, and reporting problems.
