Google is expected to showcase the new Nest Cam and Doorbell devices on October 1st. Then there’s the new smart speaker with Gemini, which was teased at the Pixel 10 launch. Just days after leaking the devices within the Home app, Google appears to be stocking the new smart security and doorbell in retail stores. This isn’t the first instance that a Google device hit store shelves much before the official announcement.
Google Nest Cam and Doorbell are already on store shelves early
Reddit user Qowudyeibflsla spotted the upcoming Nest indoor and outdoor cameras and the smart doorbell at Home Depot over the weekend. The product lineup may include the Nest Cam Outdoor 2K (wired, 2nd gen), Nest Cam Indoor 2K (wired, 3rd gen), and Nest Doorbell 2K (wired, 3rd gen). It appears the retailer has put out the products early, albeit behind a locked mesh.
Android Authority used Google’s Nano Banana feature to remove the mesh, and these offer a clearer look. While the products look identical to the older ones, Google is using the new 2K recording ability to distinguish them. The side frame of the box has the “with Gemini” badge, which is new.
You may not be able to buy them yet
Besides putting them on shelves, Home Depot also has the prices of the Nest devices. The Nest Cam Indoor 2K will set you back by $99.99, and the Nest Cam Outdoor 2K may cost $149.99. Meanwhile, the Doorbell 2K has a $179.99 price tag. However, the prices may not be for the upcoming models, as it says “2nd Gen” doorbell instead of 3rd. Though they are on store shelves, you may not be able to buy them yet. A comment to the Reddit post claims that they tried to buy the devices from Home Depot but were denied.
The images by the Redditor also show us the Nest Learning Thermostats, but there’s no mention of the generation. It’s possible it could be the upcoming version that leaked a while ago, but we don’t know for sure yet. Besides launching these models, Google may also detail its plans to integrate Gemini’s free and paid tiers into services and features for Home devices on October 1st.
