Google is officially expanding the Gemini for TV rollout to its latest Google TV Streamer. This update marks a major upgrade from the traditional Google Assistant. The AI-enabled voice assistant will let the user interact with their TV more “naturally.” It also aims to enhance overall user experience and provide better content recommendations.
Google TV Streamer finally gets Gemini AI assistant
Gemini for TV is actually smarter than you think. The users are no longer limited to rigid commands and are now provided with a more interactive and natural conversational experience. The system supports free-flowing conversation. Meaning, you can say, “I like dramas, but my wife likes comedies. What’s a movie we can watch together?” and Gemini will deliver the best possible content recommendations.
You could also ask questions related to the latest buzz in the streaming industry, and it will provide a clear and concise answer right away. Beyond content and entertainment, Gemini for TV lets users use their own voice to learn and create. The overall user experience has been upgraded and made more streamlined.
More devices to get it soon
The initial rollout of Gemini for TV had started with the TCL QM9K series and is now expanding to the Google TV Streamer. Although earlier reports had suggested this would come later, Google’s official announcement confirms it begins now for the Streamer.
Also, the Gemini does not replace the key commands of the Google Assistant. But it adds a more powerful layer to them. For users, if you have a compatible device and the latest update installed, you’ll get access to this smarter voice assistant without needing a new remote or hardware upgrade. The feature will expand over time to more Google TV devices throughout 2026. Until then, the classic Google Assistant remains in place and will continue to work.
