Right now, we are pretty much at the mercy of movie studios, TV studios, and content creators when it comes to the shows we watch. However, Google wants to change that narrative. According to an APK teardown by Android Authority, they discovered evidence that suggests that Google could allow users to generate their own videos on Google TV.
Users can generate their own Google TV videos
According to the teardown, it references several things that suggest that users can generate videos on Google TV. This includes mentions of “Sparkify”, scene style, visual style, describe your idea, and generate video. This is in addition to an upcoming feature where Google TV can check in to see if you’re still watching or have fallen asleep.
So far, only Sparkify is something we know that actually exists. Google announced the feature back at I/O 2025. It is an experimental AI feature that allows users to generate animated videos using Gemini and Veo. Basically, users can use it to generate videos in response to questions. This makes it a great learning tool, especially for those who are visual learners, who want a fun way to learn about something new.
In a way, it’s similar to features already offered by Google and its other AI products, like NotebookLM. For those unfamiliar, NotebookLM allows users to create video overviews from their notes. Since not everyone is necessarily a fan of walls of text, this is a good way to summarize information in an easy-to-digest manner.
Android Authority speculates that the other code mentioned could be related to Sparkify. This suggests that maybe Google could be expanding the feature. However, Sparkify’s availability is limited. We’re not sure when the company plans to make it more widely available, but it could be a good way to promote Google TV as an educational tool.
Controlling your own content
While there are plenty of documentaries out there, generating your own videos means you have greater control over their content. Google has attempted to create a safe space for kids via YouTube Kids. However, there have been complaints in the past about how some NSFW videos and disturbing content have somehow slipped past Google’s censors.
At least with tools like Sparkify, parents can control the narrative better. It also allows them to create custom content on topics that their kids are curious about.
