Google introduced the Search Live feature at I/O 2025. It lets you have natural conversations with Google Search, similar to Gemini. This AI-powered feature is available on both Android and iOS platforms within the Google app. Android Authority reports that Google Search Live’s new UI could be in the works. This shows a call-like notification for controlling the session and a minimalistic overlay, similar to Gemini Live.
Google Search Live may soon get a new UI upgrade
The Google app version 16.29.53.sa.arm64 includes hints of Search Live getting a visual overhaul, albeit minimal. There’s an overlay towards the bottom of the screen for easy access to users. This includes a Live icon, a mic button, and a close (X) icon. It is quite a user-friendly design for voice searches.

While Android Authority was able to offer a preview of the new design, it’s not functional, as they were unable to interact with it just yet. This suggests it’s still in development. Considering it is mostly borrowing the design from Gemini Live, it shouldn’t be a challenge for Google to finish up the pending work and roll it out to the public.
Google looks to be aiming for a unified look
It’s kind of clear that Google wants to streamline how its AI chat options look. Gemini Live already offers a similar call-style notification and a minimal overlay. Now, the Google Search Live looks to be treading the same path. The shift is possibly aimed at making the voice sessions feel more natural for users when conversing.
Google will soon reportedly allow users to use their camera to show Search what they’re looking at and continue the chat in real-time without having to type. All these suggest that the company is gradually moving away from the classic search box.
