Google has started rolling out the October 2025 Android update to its Pixel smartphones. Verizon teased the update yesterday, but it’s now actually rolling out, and it comes with six changelog entries.
The October 2025 Android update for Pixel phones contains various bug fixes
All of these are basically minor bug fixes, but they’re definitely worth mentioning. The first entry mentions a fix for screen flickering and sudden shutdown issues under certain conditions. This applies to the Pixel 7 series only, though.
The second entry mentions a fix for issues occasionally causing frozen or fuzzy display under certain conditions. This one applies to the latest smartphones only, the Google Pixel 10 series.
There’s also one fix for the Pixel Tablet only. It fixes an issue that occasionally causes system instability under certain conditions. The next one relates to the Pixel 7, 8, 9, and 10. It is a fix for an issue where a semi-transparent background would persist after the camera was launched under certain conditions.
Second-to-last is a fix for the Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 series phones. It is a fix for an issue where the flashlight status does not appear on the At a Glance widget in certain conditions.
The last entry in Google’s changelog mentions a fix for the Pixel 7, 8, 9, and 10 series phones. It is a fix for System UI crash when starting or stopping casting with the Media Output Switcher in certain conditions.
This update is not coming to the Pixel 6 series for some reason
You’ll notice that this update is not coming to the Pixel 6 series for some reason. At this point in time, the security bulletin is still not available, so we’re not sure what security fixes Google rolled out with these changes, if any.
The update is also rolling out in stages, so you’ll need to be patient. You can sideload it yourself, if you want, as factory images and OTA packages are available, but for the vast majority of you, it would be best to wait.
