Google is rolling out its November 2025 Pixel Feature Drop update for all eligible Pixel devices. The firmware pack brings a host of new capabilities powered by advanced AI models like Gemini and Nano Banana. This release focuses heavily on enhancing user communication, security, and battery life across the Google Pixel device line, from the Pixel 7a up to the latest Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
Check out what brings the November 2025 Feature Drop update for Google Pixel phones
The most notable new features heavily leverage Google’s AI models to boost communication. Users can now edit and reimagine any photo directly within Google Messages using the Nano Banana image generation and editing model, known as Remix in Messages. This feature is broadly available to all Android users with RCS enabled in several key markets.
Furthermore, communication receives an intelligence boost. The Pixel 9 and later devices can now use on-device Gemini Nano to provide concise summaries of lengthy message threads or busy group texts right in the notification shade. This functionality, marked by an AI sparkle icon, helps users quickly catch up without opening the app. For a touch of personalization, users can also apply theme packs, which customize the device’s wallpapers, icons, and system sounds. The first available theme pack revolves around the “Wicked: For Good” movie.
Google is also expanding critical safety features and tools. The existing Scam Detection feature, which listens for suspicious speech patterns in phone calls, is expanding to additional regions for Pixel 9+ users. More importantly, scam detection is now rolling out to chat notifications, displaying a “Likely scam” alert on suspicious messages in the US and on Pixel 6 and newer devices.
In Google Photos, the “Help me edit” feature now uses other labeled photos in a user’s library to apply Personalized Edits. It can also suggest actions on your photos, like removing sunglasses or correcting a smile, for example. Separately, the Call Notes feature is also expanding to more regions like Japan, Canada, and the UK. “Call Notes” uses Gemini Nano to transcribe, summarize, and suggest next steps from recorded calls.
Google Maps battery saver mode, notifications get new prioritization
Beyond the major AI-driven features, the update includes important utility improvements. Google Maps navigation is gaining a new Power Saving mode while driving. Tapping the power button offers a simplified layout showing only key information. Google claims this change can extend battery life by up to four hours on select devices. Plus, Android now prioritizes notifications from close friends and family with greater visual impact. This ensures that you do not miss any important messages.
Finally, the November patch addresses several bug fixes. The list includes general improvements for battery usage and charging, resolving issues that caused occasional system instability, and fixing a rainbow color pattern bug in the camera on certain devices. The update is rolling out over-the-air (OTA) to eligible devices, although users of older models like the Pixel 6 and 7 series are still awaiting their patch.
