Google Pixel phones offer a bunch of submenus to diagnose certain issues. For instance, there’s “Touch diagnostics” for touch-related issues on the display, “Device temperature” for diagnosing heating issues, “Battery diagnostics” for checking battery-related issues, “Troubleshoot mobile connection” for diagnosing mobile network issues, etc. Well, Google is now reportedly adding a new diagnosis tool to Pixel phones: Bluetooth diagnostics.
Google Pixel devices get a built-in Bluetooth diagnostics tool
Google is rolling out a new update to the Pixel Troubleshooting app with version 1.0885948717, and this adds a “Bluetooth diagnostics” option to all Pixel phones, as spotted by Telegram user Andrey. This new submenu can be found in Settings > Connected devices > Bluetooth > Bluetooth diagnostics. Alternatively, you can also find it in Settings > Device health and support > Bluetooth diagnostics.
If it wasn’t obvious from the name, this new Bluetooth submenu helps diagnose issues connecting your Pixel phone or tablet to Bluetooth accessories. These can be smartwatches, earbuds, and car infotainment systems. Once you tap the Bluetooth diagnostics option, a new “Select your device” page will open. This will show the list of all your connected devices.
If you can’t see Bluetooth devices in range, Google explicitly highlights Pixel Watches and Pixel Buds. There’s also an “Other” option for other smartwatches and earbuds. Once connected, you can perform tests like phone calls to see if something is not right with the Bluetooth accessory.
Available on all Pixel devices
The Bluetooth diagnostics page will show a “No issues found” message if no issues are present. However, if you’re still facing any issues, the page will suggest some alternative steps that you can take. These include moving the devices closer, restarting the accessory, forgetting the accessory and pairing again, and lastly, clearing the accessory’s connection memory.
The new Bluetooth diagnostics submenu is available on all Pixel devices. It’s definitely a handy tool for troubleshooting Bluetooth issues, and it’s pretty straightforward as well.
