It appears that the Android 16 stable update didn’t go as planned for the Pixel devices. Numerous users had previously reported that their Pixel devices, including the Pixel 6 Pro, were having an unresponsive button issue. It was, however, addressed in the latest August patch. But, Pixel 6 Pro users are still facing the camera crash issue that has been present since Android 16 beta.
Pixel 6 Pro users are frustrated with the camera crash issue
Since the beta testing was going on, several Pixel 6 Pro users have reported the camera crash issue with their devices. It was expected to get fixed in the stable update, as the beta update generally tends to have some software hiccups. But sadly, Google did not address the issue even in the stable update.
The issue will occur when the Pixel 6 Pro user does lens switching in 4K 30FPS recording. Going from 1X to 4X while recording the video will end up with the camera app crashing. It would display the warning “A problem occurred, part of the video may not have been saved.” Thankfully, the video stays in place and is not deleted. The video gets saved in its usual storage until the moment of a crash.
Google is yet to acknowledge the issue and provide a fix
As said earlier, this issue has existed since the Android 16 beta. For nearly six months, the users have been frustrated with the Pixel 6 Pro’s camera crash problem. Yet, there’s no fix in sight. Google has not even acknowledged the issue, let alone rolled out a patch for it.
Users have tried options such as resetting the device or clearing the data of the camera app. However, none of the methods seems to be working. Some frustrated users even went to the service center in the hope that the issue would be fixed. But the service centres are allegedly saying that the issue belongs to the hardware and hence, it has to be treated out of the warranty. Google must acknowledge the issue and provide a fix as soon as possible. The users are already very infuriated.
