In the past, Google’s Pixel phones have been plagued with bugs since launch, basically. The company is doing a much better job of keeping them at bay lately, but they’re not gone completely. It seems like the Google Pixel 10 series has been struck with an Android Auto bug already.
The Google Pixel 10 is already having problems with Android Auto
The Pixel 10 series phones just started arriving to early adopters, and reports about this bug are out. The Pixel 10 phones seem to be having an issue maintaining a reliable connection with in-car infotainment systems.
People are complaining all over Google’s support forums and Reddit threads. This bug always acts the same, it would seem. You plug in the Pixel 10, your car recognizes the device, but the dashboard display never gets past a black screen that contains the Android Auto logo.
What’s interesting is that audio still goes through correctly, that goes for music, phone calls, and Assistant commands. The interface itself does not appear or takes quite some time to load, it all depends.
In some cases, the UI does load, but it’s sluggish
Some reports are saying that the UI is so sluggish when it loads that it’s barely functional. Either way, it’s a problem, and users say that they’ve tried the usual tricks to get it working. Some have tried clearing the cache, while others have reinstalled the Android Auto app. Some users even tried factory-resetting head units and swapping cables.
None of that seems to have worked for them. This bug also affects a wide range of vehicles. That goes for late-model Chevrolets and Nissans to newer Audis. What’s interesting is that some users did report normal performance of Android Auto, mostly users with third-party wireless dongles.
This is almost certainly a software bug on Google’s side, which is easy to fix once Google figures out what exactly it is. Let’s hope that the fix will land soon.
