Google seems to be finally bringing the popular cut-out tool to Android. A recent report reveals that Google Photos might soon get the ability to turn any photo into a sticker. This feature has been there on iOS and several popular Android skins for a long time. It’s a fun-to-use tool that allows the user to cut and copy the main subject from any image.
Google Photos cut-out tool will allow the user to convert any photo into a sticker
According to Android Authority, Google is quietly working on a new feature in Photos that allows any user to tap and hold on the main subject of a picture to isolate it from the background. Users can then copy the cutout and use it as a sticker or paste it anywhere on the supported apps. The source has managed to enable the feature in an early build.
Apart from the usual cut-out feature, Google has added an option to store those creations. A string code discovered in the app includes references to a new Stickers section under the Collections tab. This would become a central place for the users to save and manage their cut-outs. However, since the feature is still under development, it does not yet store the stickers automatically.
It’s not completely similar to what the Photos app has on iOS
On iOS, Google Photos already supports subject cut-outs that can be copied, shared, and edited. Similar features can be accessed on popular Android skins such as ColorOS, OxygenOS, and OriginOS as well. They pretty much work the same way, and there’s no major distinction. But Google Photos wants to change the experience a bit, and hence, it brings the new Collections tab. But regardless, the core functionality remains the same.
Also, keep in mind that the feature is still under development. There’s no official word on the stable release yet. We don’t yet have an idea about the exact functionality of the feature. The final version may have some additional features and refinements.
