Google keeps making periodic changes to its platforms, including YouTube. This time, the tech giant has added support for the Photo-to-Video tool on YouTube Shorts and Google Photos. The tool uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze the selected images and then turns them into a nice-looking short video.
Google announces Photo-to-Video tool for YouTube Shorts
The new photo-to-video tool, as the name implies, allows users to create videos from their selected photos. It works very similarly to the Gemini’s newly added photo-to-video capabilities. However, the Gemini’s version uses the latest Veo-3 AI engine to create videos. On the other hand, the one introduced to YouTube Shorts and Google Photos uses the older Veo-2 model and comes with certain restrictions.
Though both platforms have the same feature, Google Photos users can generate only up to 6 seconds of video clip using the tool. But for the YouTube Shorts, users can pick from certain preset options for video duration. There’s no option to enter a manual prompt, though. In Google Photos, you can pick from provided effects like “Subtle movement” or “I’m feeling lucky.”
Google Photos gets a new remix feature alongside
Google has also announced a new “Remix” editing feature for its Google Photos. This feature will allow the user to convert their images into different styles such as anime, cartoon, and 3D. The final output, made using any of the AI features, will have the invisible SynthID digital watermark. Both the photo-to-video and remix tools will be available under a new tab of the Google Photos app.
As of right now, the feature is being rolled out for Google Photos users residing in the US. In the upcoming days, the firm will push the feature for YouTube Shorts users in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. You can check for an app update from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
