Google’s Search app has been getting some handy features lately. Now, Google is rolling out a new “Images” tab on its Search app for iOS and Android. Google started beta testing this feature back in June, right after it was spotted in May.
Google app’s new ‘Images’ tab offers a scrollable feed based on your interests
The basic idea behind the new “Images” tab in the Google app is to make visual discovery easier. As Google notes in the announcement post, this feature can be handy for anyone who is planning a trip, redecorating their apartment, or choosing an outfit. If you’ve ever used Pinterest and come across its “Images” tab, the feature is quite similar.
Sometimes, it can be hard for you to search for what you’re really looking for. That’s where Google app’s “Images” tab comes to your rescue. So, where exactly will you find the new “Images” tab? You can use the new feature by tapping on a new “Images” icon located at the bottom of the Google app screen. It’s available alongside other tabs like Home, Search, Notifications, and Activity.
When you tap on the “Images” icon for the first time, the Google app will ask you to select a topic of interest, including travel, fashion, or home decor. Once done, the app will show you a daily feed of new images curated based on your interests. To make things simpler, let’s call it a scrollable feed of images that you can save to your collections. Additionally, you can search for even more inspiration based on the images served to you.
The feature will first be available in the US
Google says that the new “Images” tab will roll out first in the US for both Android and iOS users over the next few weeks. Speaking of new features, the company is also testing “History Off Search” inside the Google Search app. To give you an idea, it’s a new, prominent “incognito mode” toggle that will appear right above the keyboard when you start typing inside the Google Search app.
