Over the years, the prices of our smartphones have increased. This is normal due to ongoing economic uncertainty, inflation, weakening/strengthening of currencies, increased spending on R&D, increase in the cost of raw materials, and so on. This is why if you expected to see the iPhone 17 series increase in price, you wouldn’t be alone. Thankfully, that won’t be the case, at least, for the most part.
iPhone 17 price to remain the same, with one exception
In a search note seen by 9to5Mac, analysts at JPMorgan are projecting that Apple will maintain the price of its iPhone 17 lineup save for one model. The model in question is the iPhone 17 Pro, which could see a jump from $999 to $1,099. However, the upside is that to “make up” for it, Apple will increase the base storage.
This means that it’s not really an increase in price, but more about customers paying slightly more for more storage. As for the rest of the iPhone 17 models, the base iPhone 17 will start at $799. The iPhone 17 Pro Max will also remain the same at $1,199. As for the rumored iPhone 17 Air, analysts are pegging it at around $899-$949. This price point essentially takes over the Plus and the Pro model.
However, some might find it hard to justifying the iPhone 17 Air’s prices. This is because according to the rumors, Apple was forced to make certain sacrifices and compromises to get the phone to be super thin. This includes sacrificing the camera system, where the phone is rumored to feature a single lens. Also, we heard that battery life is subpar.
That being said, maybe some customers are fine paying those prices. After all, it represents one of the biggest design changes to the iPhone lineup in a while.
When are the new iPhones coming?
If you are curious about Apple’s new iPhones, you won’t have to wait much longer. Apple has confirmed it is hosting an event on September 9. This is when the company will officially unveil its iPhone 17 lineup. The event will also most likely see Apple refresh its Apple Watch and Apple Watch Ultra smartwatches, and possibly introduce the AirPods Pro 3.
