- GM issued a stop sale for nearly 100 units of three 2026 SUV models across the U.S.
- Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia, and Chevy Traverse are the affected nameplates in question.
- The automaker hasn’t disclosed what quality concern led to the internal stop-sale order.
General Motors has quietly paused sales on a small batch of its newest SUVs, raising questions about what’s going on behind the scenes. The company recently issued a stop sale order for specific units of the GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave, and Chevrolet Traverse. While that might sound alarming at first glance, the order applies to only a handful of vehicles, about 100 in total, and not the entire lineup.
The stop sale was first reported by GM Authority, which noted that GM referred to a “quality issue” in a dealer bulletin labeled “N252517720.” Details beyond that have been scarce. Although GM issued a similar stop sale in 2024 related to a transmission issue in the Traverse, there’s currently no indication that this situation is connected.

Interestingly, General Motors confirmed to Car and Driver that the issue affects just 92 cars nationwide. Despite acknowledging the stop sale, the automaker didn’t comment on exactly what the quality issue was. Importantly, this isn’t a full-blown recall. Instead, it’s a simple stop sale, which is exactly what it sounds like. Dealers can’t sell these cars, trade them to other dealers, or even take them out for test drives.
For all we know, it could be something like a gearbox issue, or it could be as simple as a loose trim piece, or something just as innocuous. Seeing as these are all 2026 model year vehicles, there are very few consistent complaints about them on forums or on the NHTSA’s website.
As all three of these cars recently received a big update, it’s hard to say anything from past iterations could have something to do with it. Perhaps we’ll see a leaked document pop up in the next few days. Until then, shoppers can rest assured that GM has plenty of all three for them to choose from, even if these 92 are off the market for now.
