The Gemini upgrade to Nest devices doesn’t seem to be sailing smoothly. Nest speakers have apparently started becoming less helpful in recent years. A Gemini upgrade, ideally, would be a saving grace. But doesn’t seem to be the case here. Though Google is promising big things with the Gemini update, Nest Home users don’t seem to agree. Several users complain that the Gemini update bricked their Nest Home Mini speakers.
Nest Home Mini users complain that the Gemini update bricked their speakers
Several Nest Home Mini owners report that the Gemini upgrade on their speakers has made things worse. A Reddit user aileanaodh, in the GoogleHome subreddit says that since the Gemini update, all three of their Nest Minis don’t work as expected. As per the post, the Gemini update made all three devices fall into a reboot loop before ultimately powering down. Reportedly, they refused to come back up again.
Another user, krypton22, a week ago, posted that their Nest Home mini speakers don’t work as expected after the Gemini update. They note that they need to be constantly re-paired to the Home app. But then, they would eventually drop the connection after a few hours again.
More complaints
Another user complains of facing issues getting their Nest Home Mini devices to connect to the Home app after the Gemini update. Quite shockingly, a Reddit user, cmannon, almost nine months ago, reported that the Gemini update bricked their Nest device. Another user reported that the update broke all the features the user used to stay in touch with their son. Digging deep into the r/GoogleHome subreddit shows many such complaints. We hope Google quickly responds and issues a fix to this.
