If you’re an Android user, you’ve probably used Gemini at some point. Google’s AI-powered assistant has even become an indispensable part of many people’s daily lives. It also receives regular improvements to make it even more useful and practical. In a new development, Google has just rolled out a new feature that brings a whole new dimension to your interactions: video uploads.
For those unfamiliar, the Gemini app acts as your personal AI assistant. It can answer questions, brainstorm ideas, and help you understand the world around you. Previously, you could primarily interact with text and images. Now, the ability to upload videos opens up a wealth of new possibilities. Google is shipping the new feature to all Gemini-compatible platforms. So, you can upload videos on both Android and iOS and even through the web.
You can now upload videos to Google Gemini
Imagine you’re trying to identify a bird you spotted on your walk in your city. Instead of just describing it, you can now upload a short video clip directly to the Gemini app and ask for its identification. Or perhaps you’re trying to understand a particular move in a dance tutorial video you found online. Simply upload the clip and ask Gemini to break it down for you.
The possibilities that uploading videos to Gemini opens up are truly countless. Whether you’re a student trying to understand a visual demonstration, a traveler looking for information about a landmark you’ve filmed, or just someone curious about the world around them, the feature makes interacting with the assistant even more intuitive and helpful.
The rollout appears to be happening gradually. That means you may not have the option available in your account yet. However, don’t worry—it should be arriving soon. On mobile (Android and iPhone), you’ll likely find the video upload option within the chat interface, similar to how you currently attach photos. On the web version, expect a similar icon or drag-and-drop functionality.
This addition marks another step in Gemini’s evolution, making it an even more versatile and user-friendly AI companion. Google also rolled out its most powerful Gemini 2.5 Flash and Pro AI models for everyone.
