This year has seen a mighty back and forth of record-breaking between Koenigsegg and Rimac. When, just days before the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year, the Rimac Nevera R set a new benchmark from 0-249 mph and back to zero, many thought it would not be broken for some time. And yet just weeks later, Koenigsegg clapped back, retaking the record not only with combustion power, but doing with only rear-wheel drive what Rimac needed four electric motors for. We had an inkling such a reclamation would happen, as Christian von Koenigsegg had hinted as such when we spoke to him at Goodwood. But now that the dust has settled, what he said is possibly even more interesting than it was at the time.
