It’s time for another durability test, this time around it’s the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7’s turn. Zack from JerryRigEverything YouTube channel managed to get his hands on the device, which means it’s torture time, basically.
He tested the phone’s durability in a series of tests, as per usual. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 durability test has been published not long ago too, in case you’re interested in checking it out.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 did a fine job in a series of extreme durability tests
In any case, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 durability test video is up, and it’s embedded below. It has a duration of almost nine minutes, and it’s a fun watch. Well, the test itself starts past the 2-minute mark, but the video itself is almost 9 minutes long.
In any case, Zack kicked off the test by scratching the cover display. It scratched when he used the level 6 pick, while deeper grooves were visible when he used a level 7 pick. That’s a standard ordeal for Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
The main (foldable) display is a different story, of course. This display is foldable and is not as resistant to scratches as the cover panel. You can even scratch it with a fingernail, if you’re not careful, so… keep that in mind.
The physical buttons are removable, while the phone’s frame is made out of aluminum. Well, Samsung refers to it as Armor Aluminum. Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is placed on the phone’s back.
After being exposed to a lighter flame for 20 seconds, there was no damage to the cover display. That’s impressive, though that test is really just for fun, pretty much. The main display shut off after being exposed to a lighter flame for 15 seconds, while that flame also left permanent marks on the display.
The phone even got folded repeatedly with a ton of dirt on its displays and hinge
Zack also threw plenty of dust mixed with small pieces of gravel onto the Flip 7’s main display… and then folded the phone and threw some dirt to the cover display and hinge. Needless to say, this was an overkill, and the phone did still work afterwards, though some new creaks and sounds were introduced thanks to all the dirt. The phone is IP48 certified, though, so it is resistant to dust… to a degree.
The phone did bend when Zack applied pressure to it, but it did not snap, and it continued working. He tried it four times, by the way. Samsung did a fine job with that hinge, it would seem.
