The smartwatch world is about to receive new offers. Most recently, the buzz revolves around Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 series. Now, fresh certifications on platforms like TENAA (China) and NBTC (Thailand) have confirmed key details about the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. The listings also confirm that the next-gen wearables are very close.
Many of the official specifications of the upcoming smartwatches are still under wraps. However, these listings offer a reliable clue about the endurance they could offer in day-to-day use.
TENAA and NBTC certify the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic
According to the certifications (spotted by 91mobiles), the standard Galaxy Watch 8 has a 388mAh battery. The device bears the model number SM-R930. This would be a notable bump up from the 300mAh battery found in the current 40mm Galaxy Watch 7 (assuming Samsung sticks to its numbering convention). A larger cell should translate to longer usage times between charges, a feature always welcomed by smartwatch enthusiasts.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic appears to sport a 495mAh battery. This particular device has the model number SM-R960. This is also a significant increase compared to the 425mAh battery in the current 43mm Galaxy Watch 7 Classic (again, assuming consistent naming). The Classic model, often favored for the tactile feedback of the rotating bezel, would greatly benefit from this extra power, potentially lasting even longer on a single charge. Recent reports suggest that this variant will only be available in one size.
These battery capacity reveals align with previous rumors. They said that Samsung is now focusing on improving battery life across its wearable lineup. While the current usage you’ll get will depend on various factors like screen brightness, features used, and connectivity, these larger batteries are certainly a promising sign.
Appearances on certification websites like TENAA and NBTC typically indicate that a product launch is drawing closer. We’re still waiting for Samsung to officially reveal the launch date for the Galaxy Watch 8 series. However, according to sources, the firm will hold its next Unpacked event on July 9. In the meantime, these developments suggest we might not have to wait too much longer to see what the next generation of Galaxy smartwatches has to offer.
