Samsung is rolling out the One UI 8 Watch beta update for the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. The beta program was announced a couple of weeks ago with new health-related improvements, a revamped notifications view, a battery charging screen, and features to enhance the user experience. The One UI 8 Watch beta update is currently available only in South Korea and the USA.Â
Samsung One UI 8 Watch beta update is rolling out to select models
The One UI 8 Watch beta update is available for Bluetooth-only models and LTE variants on the T-Mobile network. The first beta build is 1.9GB in size. You need the latest versions of the Samsung Members, Galaxy Wearable, and Watch Manager apps on the connected phone to download the beta version. One UI 8 Watch stable may debut with the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8.
You need to install the latest version of the Samsung Members app on your connected phone and sign in with the same Samsung account used in your Galaxy Watch to try the beta version. There is a banner for the One UI 8 Watch beta within the app. Tap on it and enroll your device. Once done, check for the beta update via the Galaxy Wearable app.
The update brings new health features and more
Samsung’s One UI 8 beta update introduces a new UI design and several new health features like Antioxidant Index, Bedtime Guidance, Vascular Load, and Running Coach. However, some of these will be limited to the newest Galaxy Watch models. Other health-related features include Bedtime Guidance and Mindfulness.

One UI 8 Watch brings Now Bar and Now Brief features. The former displays live updates/alerts of ongoing tasks at the bottom of your watch face. Meanwhile, the latter relies on AI to deliver the highlights of your day. For example, upcoming events, weather forecasts, and other relevant information.
One UI 8 Watch makes it easier to respond to notifications and alerts. Double pinching lets you quickly view a notification or send a reply. Shaking the wrist takes you back to the watch face. The latest One UI 8 Watch OS version also brings a new charging screen layout and animations to make it simpler to check the current battery level of your smartwatch and the remaining charging time.
There’s also a new double-pinch gesture to get things done. This lets you control music, take pictures, scroll through notifications, and more by pinching your thumb and index finger together. You can further customize double-pinch actions on the watch face, music controller, alarm, reminder alerts, and calendar.
One UI 8 Watch revamps notifications
The notifications panel gets a revamp, where notifications from the same app are stacked vertically, making it simpler to view more notifications with just a few swipes. Speaking of notifications, you get two options on how you receive them: Smart and Always. With the former, the notifications appear on your phone only when you are using it and on your watch when the connected device is not in use. For ‘Always,’ the notifications will appear both on the phone and the watch.
Other One UI 8 Watch Beta features include watch face recommendations, the option to create your own tiles, and personalized app screens.
