Samsung is working on its next flagship lineup, the Galaxy S26 series, and a new report suggests that it may feature Google’s Phone Scam detection tool. Code discovered inside Google’s Dialer app points to upcoming Samsung flagships gaining access to the real-time scam alerts feature. If true, this will become the first case where Google allows one of its most advanced security tools on a non-Pixel Android phone.
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 might feature Google’s Phone Scam detection tool
A recent APK teardown (done by Android Authority) of the Phone by Google app v206.0.857916353 reveals some interesting findings. The string codes found inside the app refer to model numbers believed to belong to the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra. These identifiers appear alongside Pixel device codenames within sections of code tied directly to Scam Detection. The tool, internally labeled with a specific name, is responsible for alerting users during scam calls.
The presence of the tool’s name right next to the upcoming Samsung flagships’ codename suggests Google might finally allow the tool to appear on a non-Pixel device. For reference, the Scam Detection feature was introduced recently with the main goal of analyzing conversations for predicting common scam behaviors. It uses on-device AI or machine learning to process the information.
Google is finally allowing other manufacturers to use its security tools
With the new Phone Scam detection tool, Google aims to warn users before they share sensitive information with potential scammers. If Samsung adopts the feature, the Galaxy S26 series users will become the first non-Pixel owners to enjoy the advanced security tool.
However, one thing that remains mysterious is how the feature would appear on Samsung devices. The Phone Scam tool is an integral part of Google’s dialer, and Samsung uses its own dialer on its phones. This raises the possibility that the Korean giant could preinstall Google’s dialer on the Galaxy S26 series, replacing or sidelining its existing dialer.
