Yet another report has surfaced claiming that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge will succeed the Galaxy S25+. To be clear, this also means the end of the Galaxy S ‘Plus’ lineup as a whole, as the ‘Edge’ series is claimed to entirely replace it starting next year.
The report comes from ETNews, and it follows a report that surfaced a while back. A separate report claimed that both phones could launch, as they did this year, but that seems unlikely at this point.
The Galaxy S26 Edge will join the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra, while the ‘Plus’ model is gone
Based on this report by ETNews, the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra are coming in 2026. Needless to say, the vanilla model will be the cheapest, while the ‘Ultra’ variant will be the most expensive.
Samsung has reportedly requested its suppliers to prepare for the mass production needed for the Galaxy S26 Edge, while mentioning that the Galaxy S26+ will not be coming at all.
This move is all but surprising. The company’s ‘Plus’ Galaxy S series smartphones haven’t exactly been a hit for the past few years. The vanilla and ‘Ultra’ models have been selling better for the company.
The Galaxy S25 Edge wasn’t exactly a hit, so major changes will be needed
The Galaxy S25 Edge, based on reports, is not exactly a hit either, but Samsung seemingly plans to stick with the ‘Edge’ lineup for at least one more year. Who knows, perhaps consumers end up reacting better to the Galaxy S26 Edge.
The Galaxy S25 Edge’s battery capacity was a major worry for consumers, which probably affected its sales numbers. On top of that, it’s a brand new lineup, kind of, so… there you go. It remains to be seen how Samsung plans to change that next year to boost sales. We do expect to see a bigger battery, that’s for sure. Samsung will have to adopt a slicon-carbon battery in order to make a major impact in that area, if it plans to keep the phone so thin.
