The Samsung Galaxy S26 series camera island could have a transparent layer, it seems. The information has been shared by Ice Universe, a well-known tipster. In addition to that claim, he also shared an image to show us that.
The camera island of the Galaxy S26 series could have a transparent layer
If you take a look at the image below, you’ll see what he shared. There seems to be a transparent layer after the first, base portion of the camera island. You can basically see camera modules through that transparent layer in the image below.

That is best visible in this white image of the phone. We did share official images of all three Galaxy S26 series phones, though in darker colors. On the black model of the Galaxy S26, it’s almost not noticeable, while on the Cobalt Violet model, it is kind of visible as well, I guess.
That’s an interesting touch by Samsung, as that was not the way the company handled things on the Galaxy S25 series. That will be another small detail that will differentiate these phones from their predecessors.
Camera islands on these phones are the main point of differentiation from the Galaxy S25 series
Their camera islands are the main point of differentiation, actually. All three Galaxy S26 series phones will have a camera island with cameras placed on it. On previous phones, all camera modules protruded directly from the backplate.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will also be extremely similar to its predecessor. More similar than it was the case with its predecessors, that’s for sure. Samsung decided to do it a bit differently this time around.
All three Samsung phones, the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, are expected to launch on February 25. The company did not confirm that just yet, but it’s expected to do so soon. The devices are tipped to go on sale on March 11, in case you’re wondering.
