
The Frisco Planning & Zoning Commission approved a site plan for the 190-room Dream Hotel, which will also include more than 124,000 square feet of office space. It will be built on a 3.7-acre site at the southeast corner of Brixley Boulevard and Breezeway Boulevard. The project will feature amenities such as a gym, sauna, bar and lounge. The commission’s approval of the site plan clears the way for construction to start. Work on the hotel is expected to begin in the fourth quarter.
Wilks Development LLC, the developer behind the 217-acre Firefly Park, expects to finish infrastructure work by the end of April.
Wilks purchased the land for Firefly Park in 2015. The development, previously known as Frisco North and Oxbow at Frisco, will be built in three phases over the next decade. When complete, the park is expected to represent a total investment of between $2.5 billion and $4 billion.
Frisco itself has added more than 200,000 residents since 2000.
It all adds up to more momentum at Firefly Park, which is expected to attract more residents and businesses to Frisco. The city is part of a broader wave of growth across Collin County, fueled by strong corporate investment and access to highways. Between July 2023 and July 2024, Collin County added nearly 46,700 new residents, according to Census Bureau estimates released on March 12. That was the highest increase in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and the fourth-largest in the country. The total population in Collin County surpassed 1.2 million last year. Frisco itself has added more than 200,000 residents since the start of the century.
