After ESPN announced the launch date for its streaming service today, FOX is also announcing its new standalone streaming service called FOX One. It will also launch on August 21, and be priced at $19.99 per month or $199.99 per year.
That is quite pricey compared to some other networks’ streaming services, but right on pace with Netflix. FOX One will include all of “FOX’s leading News, Sports, and Entertainment branded content together in one dynamic streaming platform.” FOX also notes that for the “first time, cord-cutters and cord-nevers will have live streaming and on-demand access to the real-time thrills, bold, trusted voices and defining stories being told across the full portfolio of FOX brands.”
This new service will include FOX News Channel, FOX Business Network, FOX Weather, FOX Sports, FS1, FS2, FOX Deportes, B1G, FOX local stations, and the FOX Network. FOX Nation and B1G+ will also be available on the platform.
FOX and ESPN are leading the way towards standalone linear channel offerings
ESPN, and now FOX, are the first to really offer their linear cable channels in a standalone streaming service. Peacock does this a little bit with NBC, but not all of NBC is available on Peacock. Whereas FOX and ESPN will have all of their channels available on their services. Making it easier for cord-cutters to save money and only subscribe to the content they want.
Now, ESPN’s service is going to cost quite a bit more, about 50% more per month. However, ESPN does also have far more sports available in its bundle. As it is also including the SEC Network and ACC Network, in addition to the slew of ESPN channels.
FOX’s FAST service, Tubi isn’t included with FOX One. Though that’s not really a bad thing, since Tubi is completely free, it really doesn’t need to be included.
